Ego Fortification, Continued Learning III

The cortisol flowing as a result of the stress keeps you from thinking of solutions. If you have a tendency to go to pieces during pressure situations, you could try taking Siberian ginseng. This is a "magic bullet" against cortisol - it makes your body produce more adrenaline instead, which speeds your responses and thinking.

Cortisol destroys the glucose in your bloodstream which your brain needs for memory function. Take the ginseng in the morning or at lunch time but not in the evening, as it may interfere with sleep.

Everybody needs a bag of tricks to perform at their best in life and continuing to learn and to educate yourself is the best way to provide yourself with palette of techniques. Again, if you don't make a point of deliberately learning appropriate things, you will learn by default, and there is no guarantee that this will be helpful, as discussed above. You are probably aware of this, or you wouldn't be reading this now.

You can choose to learn many things, but it helps to focus on those topics which will help at work or with personal growth or both, apart from practical courses. There are so many online courses available on virtually every topic, even many free courses.

You never know when such knowledge will come in useful but probably the most useful is knowledge that will help you strengthen your Adult-Ego state and stabilize your personality. Knowing a practical way of coping with a crisis is extremely useful in many ways; it will improve your effectiveness and make you feel better about yourself.

If you don't make a deliberate effort to learn, you only acquire knowledge randomly, and this knowledge may not have a good basis to it. This is one of the ways qualifications are better than experience; you learn why a response should work, rather than that it seemed to work ok once and you hope it will do so again. Continuing education helps keep you alive to new developments and bolsters your confidence in being able to handle things. It can be very difficult to handle something you don't understand. Make the effort to understand.
